Reconstruction of the Potterne Field 4-08-2020 formation
1. | Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
2. | Construct the inscribed octagon (regular 8-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up. Number the angular points clockwise 1 - 8, starting at the top.
3. | Draw the diagonal of octagon 2 between angular points nrs. 1 and 4. Repeat this seven times, for angular points nrs. 2-5, 3-6, 4-7, 5-8, 6-1, 7-2, and 8-3.
4. | Construct the inscribed circle of the octagon enclosed by diagonals 3.
5. | Construct the inscribed circle of octagon 2.
6. | Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the two end-points of a centerline) between the upper intersections of circles 1 and 5 with the vertical centerline.
7. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 6.
8. | Copy circle 6 to its own upper intersection with the vertical centerline.
9. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 8 at the upper side.
10. | Copy circle 6 to the upper intersection of circle 8 and the vertical centerline.
11. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 10 at the upper side.
12. | Copy circle 6 to the upper intersection of circle 4 and the vertical centerline.
13. | Construct two circles concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 12 at both sides.
14. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 12, tangent to diagonal 1-4 (between angular points 2 nrs. 1 and 4).
15. | Copy circle 14 to angular point 2 nr. 1.
16. | Copy circle 6 two times, the first to the lower intersection of circle 15, and the second to the upper intersection of the first, both with the vertical centerline.
17. | Construct two circles concentric to circle 15, tangent to circles 16 at the upper sides.
18. | Copy circles 15 and 17 together to angular point 2 nr. 5.
19. | Copy circle 6 to angular point 2 nr. 3.
20. | Copy circles 15 and 17 together to the upper intersection of circles 1 and 19.
21. | Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of the inner circle 13 and the horizontal centerline, passing through the intersection of diagonals 2-7 and 5-8.
22. | Copy circle 6 two times, the first to the lefthand intersection of circle 21, and the second to the righthand intersection of the first, both with the horizontal centerline.
23. | Construct two circles concentric to circle 21, tangent to circles 22 at the righthand sides.
24. | Copy circle 6 two times, the first to angular point 2 nr. 7, and the second to the lower intersection of the first and circle 1.
25. | Copy circles 21 and 23 together to the lower intersection of circle 1 and the lower circle 24.
26. | Circles 1, 4, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 20, and 25, are used for the final reconstruction.
