Reconstruction of the
Beckhampton 5-06-2005 formation

1.
Since this formation has been aligned along one of the curved tramlines, the first 12 steps will simulate this curved centerline, and is, strictly speaking, no part of the reconstruction.

Draw a circle. Draw and extend horizontal and vertical centerlines.

Construct the circumscribed heptagon (regular 7-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing left.

Construct the circumscribed circle of heptagon 2.

4.
Copy circle 3 to the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, and move it (copy and delete the original) to its own righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline, as shown.

Copy circle 3 to the lefthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, and move it to its own lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

Copy circle 1 to the righthand intersection of circle 4 and the horizontal centerline, and move it to its own righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

Copy circle 1 to the lefthand intersection of circle 5 and the horizontal centerline, and move it to its own lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

Copy circle 3 to the righthand intersection of circle 6 and the horizontal centerline, and move it to its own righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

Copy circle 3 to the lefthand intersection of circle 7 and the horizontal centerline, and move it to its own lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

Construct the inscribed heptagram (seven-pointed star) of heptagon 2, by drawing the connecting line of every angular point with every third angular point, as shown.

Heptagram 10 encloses a smaller heptagon; construct the circumscribed circle of this heptagon.

Construct a circle, passing through the centers of circles 8 and 9, and tangent to circle 11 at the upper side.

Circle 12 will function as the curved (horizontal) centerline for the remaining reconstruction.

Copy circle 1 to the intersection of (curved) centerline 12 and the vertical centerline.

Copy circle 3 to the intersection of centerline 12 and the vertical centerline.

Copy circle 14 two times, to both intersections of circle 13 and centerline 12, and move the righthand one to its right and the lefthand one to its left intersection with centerline 12.

Copy circle 13 two times, to the righthand intersection of righthand circle 15 and to the lefthand intersection of lefthand circle 15, both with centerline 12, and move the righthand one to its right and the lefthand one to its left intersection with centerline 12.

Copy circle 14 two times, to the righthand intersection of righthand circle 16 and to the lefthand intersection of lefthand circle 16, both with centerline 12, and move the righthand one to its right and the lefthand one to its left intersection with centerline 12.

Copy circle 13 four times, to the centers of circles 15 and 17.

Copy circle 14 two times, to the centers of circles 16.

Construct the circumscribed heptagon of circle 14, pointing up.

Construct the circumscribed circle of heptagon 20.

Copy circle 21 two times, to the centers of circles 17.

Draw the right and left connecting lines between the intersections of circle 14 and circles 15, as shown.

Copy concentric circles 13 and 21 both two times, to the intersections of lines 23 and centerline 12.

Construct two circles, concentric to circles 16, the left one tangent to lefthand and the right one tangent to righthand circle 26, at the outer sides, as shown.

Construct two circles, concentric to circles 29, the left one tangent to lefthand and the right one tangent to righthand circle 24 (the larger ones), at the outer sides, as shown.

Construct two circles, concentric to circles 30, the left one tangent to lefthand and the right one tangent to righthand circle 28 (the larger ones), at the outer sides, as shown.

Construct a pair of small circles in between circles 29 and 31, such that the endpoints of their centerlines coincide with the righthand intersections of the right pair 29-31, and the lefthand intersections of the left pair 29-31, all with centerline 12. Construct another pair of small circles in between circles 30 and 32, such that the endpoints of their centerlines coincide with the lefthand intersections of the right pair 30-32, and the righthand intersections of the left pair 30-32, all with centerline 12. Draw two pairs of parallel lines, tangent to adjacent circles 33, one pair to the left and one pair to the right of the vertical centerline, as shown. See details.

Circles 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 30, 31 and 32, and lines 34 make up all the necessary parts of the reconstruction.
