Reconstruction of theAvebury Henge 24-07-2005 formation 1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines. 2. Construct two circumscribed equilateral triangles of circle 1, one pointing up, one pointing down. 3. Construct the inscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing to the right. 4. Construct the inscribed circle of hexagon 3. 5. Construct two circumscribed equilateral triangles of circle 4, one pointing up, one pointing down. 6. Construct a circle, centered on the vertical centerline, tangent to circles 1 and 4, both at the upper side. 7. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 6. 8. Construct the circumscribed hexagon of circle 7, pointing to the right. 9. Copy circle 6 to its lower intersection with the vertical centerline. 10. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 9 at the lower side. 11. Construct two circumscribed equilateral triangles of circle 10, one pointing up, one pointing down. 12. Construct a circle, centered on the vertical centerline, tangent to circle 6 at the lower side and tangent to circle 9 at the upper side. 13. Construct a circle concentric to circle 12, tangent to circle 6 at the upper side. 14. Copy circles 12 and 13 as one set six times, to the mutual intersections of triangles 2. 15. Draw three sets of four parallel lines, 60° apart, tangent to opposite pairs of circles 14 at both sides, as shown. See also detail. 16. Create the central pattern of the formation, by removing all irrelevant parts from triangles 2, 5 and 11, hexagon 8 and lines 15. 17. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the righthand intersection of triangles 2. 18. Copy circle 17 to the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline. 19. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 18 at the upper side. 20. Construct the inscribed hexagon of circle 19, pointing up. 21. Construct the inscribed circle of hexagon 20. 22. Construct two circumscribed equilateral triangles of circle 21, one pointing to the left, one to the right. 23. Construct two inscribed equilateral triangles of circle 19, one pointing to the left, one to the right. 24. Extend the sides of triangles 23 up to the sides of triangles 22. Together with parts of triangles 22, they form six "diamonds 24". 25. Draw the connecting line between the intersections of the rightmost extensions 24 and right-pointing triangle 22. 26. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to line 25. 27. Construct the circumscribed hexagon of circle 26, pointing up. 28. Construct the circumscribed hexagon of circle 19, pointing to the right. 29. Construct the circumscribed circle of hexagon 28. 30. Construct a circle centered at the upper angular point of hexagon 27, tangent to circle 29 at the upper side. 31. Copy circle 30 five times, to the other angular points of hexagon 27. 32. Construct the six inscribed hexagons of circles 30 and 31, each with an angular point pointing towards the center of circle 1. 33. Construct the six inscribed circles of hexagons 32. 34. Construct the six inscribed hexagons of circles 33, each with an angular point pointing towards the center of circle 1. 35. Construct the six inscribed circles of hexagons 34. 36. Construct the six inscribed hexagons of circles 35, each with an angular point pointing towards the center of circle 1. 37. Copy circles 12 and 13 as one set two times, to the angular points of the upper and upper right hexagons 36, that are closest to each other, as shown. 38. Draw four parallel lines, tangent to circles 37 at both sides, see detail. 39. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of upper line 38 and the upper left side of upper right hexagon 32, tangent to the upper left side of upper right hexagon 34. 40. Copy circle 39 three times, to the (other) intersections of upper and lower lines 38 with sides of upper and upper right hexagons 32, as shown. 41. Draw two parallel lines, tangent to upper circles 39 and 40 at the upper sides, and to lower circles 40 at the lower sides. 42. Draw the long diagonal of upper right "diamond 24" (the connecting line between the upper righthand angular points of triangles 22 and 23). 43. Construct six circles, all concentric to circle 1, each passing through a successive intersection of line 42 with lines 38 and 41. 44. Construct the six circumscribed hexagons of circles 43, all pointing up. 45. Copy circle 12 to the upper angular point of upper right "diamond 24", and move this circle to its lower intersection with line 42, see detail. 46. Copy circle 39 six times, to all angular points of triangles 22, see detail. 47. Construct a circle concentric to upper right circle 46, tangent to circle 45 at the lower side. 48. Copy upper right circle 46 and circle 47 as one set three times, to the other angular points of upper right "diamond 24". 49. Draw four lines, parallel to the sides of and outside of upper right "diamond 24", tangent to upper right circle 46 and to outer circles 48, all at the outer sides, as shown. 50. Draw four lines, parallel to the sides of and inside upper right "diamond 24", tangent to circle 47 and to inner circles 48, all at the inner sides, as shown. 51. Copy lines 49 and 50 as one set five times, to the corresponding positions of the other "diamonds 24", as shown. 52. Construct a circle passing through the angular points of the six most central sets of equilateral triangles of pattern 16, that are closest to the center of circle 1. 53. Construct the inscribed circle of the inner equilateral triangle of the upper right set of triangles mentioned in step 52, as shown. 54. Copy circle 53 five times to the corresponding positions of the other mentioned triangles, as shown. 55. Copy circle 52 six times, to the centers of circles 53 and 54. 56. Pattern 16, triangles 22, lines 24, 49, 50 and 51, hexagons 32, 34, 36 and 44, and circles 46 and 55, together, make up all that is necessary for the final reconstruction. 57.
