Reconstruction of the
Aldbourne (1) 24-07-2005 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Construct the inscribed circle of triangle 2.

4. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 3, pointing up.

5. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 3, pointing down.

6. Construct a circle centered on the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 3 at the righthand side, and passing through the rightmost intersection of triangles 4 and 5.

7. Copy circle 6 to the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline.

8. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 7 at the upper side.

9. Construct the inscribed 30-sided regular polygon of circle 1, pointing up.

10. Draw six connecting lines, two from each of the angular points of polygon 9, coincident with the angular points of triangle 2, to the two farthest angular points of triangle 4, as shown.

11. Draw 54 connecting lines, three times nine pairs, from the other angular points of polygon 9, to the two nearest angular points of triangle 4, as shown.

12. Circles 1 and 8, triangle 4, and lines 10 and 11, together make up all that is necessary for the reconstruction. All parts are visible within the formation itself.
