Reconstruction of the
Nashenden Farm 30-07-2004 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed dodecagon (regular 12-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Copy circle 1 three times, to every fourth angular point of dodecagon 2, starting at the top.

4. Construct a circle centered at the top angular point of dodecagon 2, with a radius equal to one side of it.

5. Copy circle 4 two times, to the righthand angular points of dodecagon 2, just above and below the horizontal centerline.

6. Copy circle 4 three times, to the other corresponding angular points of dodecagon 2, two apart, as shown.

7. Copy circle 1 to the center of the lowest circle 6.

8. Construct a circle (centered at the horizontal centerline), passing through the lefthand intersection of both circles 5, tangent to upper circle 3, and tangent to circle 7, both at the near sides.

9. Copy circle 8 to the center of circle 1.

10. Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of circle 8 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to lower righthand circle 3 at the near side.

11. Copy circle 10 to the center of circle 1.

12. Copy circle 1 to the center of upper circle 5.

13. Construct a circle (centered at the horizontal centerline), passing through the righthand intersection of circle 12 and lower righthand circle 3, tangent to upper circle 3, and tangent to circle 7, both at the near sides.

14. Copy circle 13 to the center of circle 1.

15. Copy circle 1 to the center of upper circle 6.

16. Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of both circles 5, passing through the lower intersection of circles 4 and 15.

17. Copy circle 16 to the center of circle 1.

18. Copy circle 16 three times, to the centers of circles 3.

19. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 16 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to both circles 5 at the near sides.

20. Copy circle 19 six times, to the centers of circles 4, 5 and 6.

21. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 17 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 8 at the righthand side.

22. Construct a circle concentric to the lowest circle 6, tangent to circle 11 at the lower side.

23. Copy circle 22 two times, to the centers of upper circles 5 and 6.

24. Draw two parallel lines, from the upper intersections of circle 4 and circles 12 and 15, to the lower intersections of lowest circle 6 and lower circles 3. Extend both lines downto circle 22.

25. Draw two sets of parallel lines, corresponding to lines 24, all spaced apart 120°, as shown.

26. Copy circle 21 six times, to the outer intersections of circles 22 and 23 with lines 24 and 25, respectively, as shown.

27. Circles 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 14, 17, 18, 20 and 26, together, make up all that is needed for the final reconstruction.

28. Remove all superfluous parts not visible in the formation itself.
