Draw a circle. Draw the horizontal and vertical centerlines. | ||||

Construct a circle, passing through intersections of diagonals 3 and touching circle 1 at the upper end-point of the vertical centerline, as shown. | ||||

Construct a circle concentric with circle 4, passing through the center of circle 1. | ||||

Construct an equilateral triangle inscribed in circle 1, pointing upwards. | ||||

Draw the connecting line between intersections of rising sides of triangle 6 and rising diagonals 3, as shown. | ||||

Construct an octagon (regular 8-sided polygon) circumscribed around circle 4, as shown. | ||||

Construct the circumscribed circle of octagon 8. | ||||

Construct a circle centered at the intersection of the vertical centerline and line 7, tangent to circle 9 at the far end, as shown. | ||||

Construct the inscribed pentagon of circle 1, pointing up. | ||||

Draw the horizontal diagonal of pentagon 11. | ||||

Construct a circle centered at the intersection of the vertical centerline and diagonal 12, tangent to circle 5 at the upper side, as shown. Copy this circle with the center to the same touching point (so both circles pass through each other's center), see figure. | ||||

Draw the connecting line between both intersections of circles 13. | ||||

Construct a circle centered at the intersection of the vertical centerline and line 14, tangent to both circles 13 at the near sides, as shown. | ||||

Copy one of the circles 13 to the center of circle 1. | ||||

Draw the connecting line between the intersections of circle 16 and the lower circle 13, as shown. | ||||

Construct a circle centered at the intersection of the vertical centerline and line 17, passing through the center of circle 1 (and tangent to circle 15 at the lower side), as shown. Copy this circle to the center of circle 15. | ||||

Copy circle 18 another time, with the center at the lower intersection of the vertical centerline and the upper circle 18, as shown. It passes through the center of circle 15. | ||||

Extend the vertical centerline at the lower end until it reaches the outer circle (10). | ||||

Copy extension 20 75 times (76 in total) and distribute all copies equally around circle 1, 19 in each quadrant, as shown. | ||||

Draw the connecting lines between the end-points of the horizontal centerline (that coincide with intersections of circle 1 with two of the lines 21) and the lower intersection of circle 15 and the vertical centerline. These are two of the "rays" of the pattern. | ||||

Draw, similar to the rays 22, all the other rays (except for the five at the upper end of the pattern). | ||||

Of all the drawn rays, clip off the parts inside circle 4. What rests, together with circles 1, 4, 5, 10, 15 and 19 form the ingredients for the reconstruction. | ||||

This finishes the reconstruction of the 2001 Gog Magog Hills (2) formation. Black denotes flattened crop, grey stands for standing crop. | ||||
